 Thursday, 15 May 2025, 10:30 -  5:00

Hits : 547

Meeting at 10.30am @ The Red Door Cafe, Church Row, Halton, Lancaster LA2 6LS. (What 3 Words : february. forkful. left )

DIRECTIONS

Exit M6 Junction 34 Lancaster / Heysham. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit to Halton, then turn Left onto Halton Rd. After the cemetery on the left, you will see a large building looking like a stone tower on the right. Opposite here on the left is a small parking area. (What 3 Words: bullion. issue.scans ) The Red Door Cafe is a few yards down the road on the left.

We will then drive to the Former Halton Railway Station car park on Denny Beck Rd.

Head NE on Halton Rd. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Low Rd, then turn right onto Station Rd, & over the bridge. The car park is on the left. ( SD 503 645)

From here, the plan is to head East along the bridle way, through the woods (steep in places), following the river towards the Crook O’ Lune, then continue NE along the side of the river to Waterworks Bridge. We then cross over the R. Lune, & head back SW, following the course of the river towards The Hermitage & the Crook O’ Lune.

Here, we have the option of either retracing the outward leg back to the car park, or crossing the bridge & heading West through the woods (steep sided), past the pumping station & Halton Mills & back to the car park.
