Meeting at 10.30 a.m. at Alexander's Coffee Shop, The Visitor Centre, The Kitchen Courtyard, Haigh Woodland Park, Wigan, WN2 1PE (Tel: 01942 828280. GR 597 088).  Directions: Heading south on M6, leave at jct 27 and head east on the A5209, crossing over the A49 and onto the B5239 into Market Street and Rectory Lane.  Continue, passing under the railway bridge, then turn right at Chorley Road (A5106) to the Red Rock roundabout, then turn left onto Red Rock Lane.  Follow this road, which goes over the Leeds - Liverpool Canal, swings round to the south and becomes School Lane.  Soon the road swings round to the left and on this corner is the entrance to Haigh Country (or Woodland) Park Visitor Centre.  Parking fees still show as £3.50.  

Walk will be through well-wooded park with varied landscape approx 6 miles.
